A Life without Passwords Seminar

How many passwords do you have to remember for your personal life? For work? For your young kids or elderly parents? If you are like most people, you can’t possibly remember them all. You end up choosing ones that are easily guessed by hackers, and you probably reuse the same password on lots of websites. There is a better way – a way where you can securely and conveniently login without having to create a password in the first place. A technology standard called FIDO (Fast IDentity Online – www.FIDOAlliance.org) is making this possible. Mobile devices are increasingly equipped with biometric sensors: fingerprint readers are now commonplace, and even more exotic options like iris scanners are making their way into the consumer market. This seminar will be covering all those in detail and other alternative methods to secure your most complex passwords without remembering them.

About the Speaker:

Steven SeckerSteve Secker is currently Manager, Application Development, at MedImpact Healthcare Systems, Inc. Steve has worked in various aspects of software engineering for over 20 years in the fields of healthcare, federal government/defense contracting, cloud computing services, and CAD/CAM engineering. He has represented the companies he has worked for in several industry and industry/government consortiums that work to develop and publish open, technical standards that, broadly speaking, seek to achieve interoperability with lower implementation costs in software development. The most recent of these is the FIDO Alliance, of which MedImpact has been a corporate sponsor since 2013.
