Supporting UCSD's EPSE & LAMP Programs
This year’s EPSE class started their activities on September 14th at the Rosa Sattoria Avocado Ranch in Rainbow. The facilitator was Jim Snell who led them through the cable wire walk, the giant square, commitment bridge, and the wall. In addition to the team building exercises, the class underwent health screening to establish a starting baseline.

Graduation 2010 was held at the Hyatt Regency La Jolla at Aventine on May 26th. Richard Gary represented the EPSE students as class speaker; and David Chiu was the LAMP class speaker. The keynote speaker was Stanley Hopper, Chief Engineer at BAE Systems, and EPSE graduate of 2000. A total of 28 EPSE students received their diplomas while 35 LAMP students celebrated their completion.

Heat hit the Camp
The LAMP Module 2 teambuilding exercise was held on March 16 at the UCSD Challenge Course. In contrast to the EPSE teambuilding exercises, the temperature was a balmy 80 degrees. The exercises consisted of the low rope elements (some blindfolded) and the imposing (and steep) tower.

The behind-the-scenes tour of the Scripps Institute of Oceanography on May 1st is completely booked, but a waiting list has been started. The response to the tour was so great that the Outreach Committee is planning to hold another tour at a future date. …

The 2010 EPSE class participated in their second team building exercise on November 16th at the Rosa Sattoria Avocado Ranch in Fallbrook. The three events were the swamp, the lake, and the forest where the teams had to recover 30 balls total from the three exercises. As we've all learned in EPSE and LAMP, fitness, exercise and nutrition are a large part of living a healthier and more productive lifestyle - both personally and professionally. Many of your EPSE and LAMP alum are active fitness buffs, including some runners amongst us.
